Gone are the days where Grandma - the domestic goddess - slaved for hours over the hot stove on hot summers afternoons, preserving apples, peaches and loads of jam for the winter days ahead. These days, our lives are so filled up with incredibly important things like surfing the net, watching TV or going out for a coffee with our mates, to even thinking about preserving. We have tracked down the most fantastic way of preserving, totally painless, best of all, no sweating over the hot stove! Sure, you can't eat it, but it certainly will preserve some of that glorious summer sun, to use at night. Jam jars store jam, the Sun Jar collects and stores sunshine so that you can use it at night! Grandma would be proud...

It's really highly technical - they are made with a traditional Mason jar and high tech energy efficient lighting. Inside the jar are a highly efficient solar cell, rechargeable battery and low energy LED lamps. When the jar is placed in sunlight the solar cell creates an electrical current that charges the battery over a few hours. This energy is then used at night to power the three LED lamps inside the jar. Jar is also water-tight so it can be used outside too. Now we have the Yellow Sun Jar, which stores sun, and the Blue Sun Jar, which stores moon (well, technically it stores sun and operates entirley is the same as the yellow one).
