Description

This collection reinvigorates the queer political imagination with contemporary radical voices critical of the gay community's uncritical investment in single-issue 'equality' politics. Centred on the holy trinity of gay marriage, gays in the military and hate crime legislation, Against Equality is a nuanced and honest appraisal of the effects of three decades of neoliberalism on a once-liberatory social movement.

Author Biography:

Ryan Conrad is an artist, activist, and scholar from central Maine. He co-founded Against Equality with Yasmin Nair in 2009, and he is currently pursuing an interdisciplinary PhD in Sexuality Studies at Concordia University in Montréal.
