An English-only edition of this book was first published by the New Zealand Ministry of Education for use in schools. The text was adapted from two articles originally published in the School Journal: “Te Tiriti o Waitangi” by Ross Calman and “Keeping Promises: The Treaty Settlement Process” by Mark Derby.

ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATOR
Toby Morris is a New Zealand illustrator, graphic novel artist, cartoonist, and
writer best known for his online non-fiction comics that explore social issues.
He lived and worked in Melbourne and Amsterdam before returning to New Zealand.
An advertising art director by day and illustrator at night, Toby’s work
includes concert posters for musicians such as Liam Finn and Phoenix Foundation.
His books include Alledaags: A Year in Amsterdam (2009), Don’t Puke on Your
Dad: A Year in the Life of a New Father (2013), Capsicum, Capsi, Go (2016), and
The Day the Costumes Stuck (2016) – nominated for the Russell Clark Award for
Illustration in the New Zealand Book Awards.
